Uganda Table Tennis Association President Cyrus Muwanga is in Tangier, Morocco, attending the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Africa Annual General Meeting (AGM), where leaders are discussing strategies to strengthen the sport’s growth, sustainability and talent development across the continent.

Among the key issues discussed so far is the need for ITTF Africa to explore alternative funding avenues to support the development and long-term sustainability of table tennis across African member associations and federations.

The meeting is also focusing on identifying, nurturing and developing young talent to create more opportunities for emerging players and strengthen the future of the sport across Africa.

The AGM brings together ITTF President Petra Sörling, ITTF Africa President Wahid Oshodi and leaders of member associations and federations to deliberate on matters affecting the growth and administration of table tennis.

Muwanga’s participation provides Uganda with an opportunity to engage in continental discussions on financing, grassroots development and strategies to expand the sport’s reach.

The deliberations are expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen table tennis structures, support emerging talent and promote the sport across Africa and beyond.
