The “Expose the Corrupt” Baraza held on September 19, 2026, at Tororo District Headquarters and at the community Baraza at the district headquarters and Children’s Park exposed how former Tororo Municipality MP, Apollo Yeri engaged in various dubious deals.

During the engagement, residents accused the former MP of land grabbing among many other illegal dealings. However, one of the most touching accusations was that Apollo Yeri diverted sewing machines meant for widows of veterans.

It emerged that Yeri colluded with the former Mayor, Opio John, to divert the machines to his personal use. This Publication has learnt that the issue became contentious until Opio was arrested by police who in turn led them to a facility belonging to Yeri where the machines were recovered.

Yeri was also accused of misallocation of Tororo Rock Tourism Funds with residents and local leaders saying Yeri allegedly diverted funds meant for the development of the Tororo Rock Tourism Site to his privately owned land in Osukuru Subcounty, where he allegedly established a recreation centre named Maro Recreation Centre. Minister Balaam consequently ordered for investigations into the matter.

Residents also accused the former Legislator of conniving with former Mayor, Orono Nyapidi and the Municipal Physical Planner, Gorreti, to allegedly sell one acre of land located on the municipal dumping site.

Besides the former MP was implicated alongside former Mayor Orono and the Municipal Procurement Officer for allegedly exaggerating the cost of 45 street lights, with each reportedly costing Shs12.5 million.

This Publication will continue running Apollo Yeri’s scandals.
