PLU DRAMA! MUHOOZI’S blue-eyed boy turns heat on BABALANDA over alleged RDC threats

KAMPALA — Political temperatures are rising in Uganda’s power corridors after Frank Mwesigye, a staunch supporter of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, publicly took a swipe at Minister for the Presidency Milly Babalanda over allegations that she threatened Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) against endorsing the First Son for future leadership.

In a fiery post on X on Monday, October 19, Mwesigye, who describes himself as a supporter of Gen. Muhoozi and the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), challenged Babalanda to explain an alleged message reportedly sent to RDCs on September 18, warning them against endorsing Muhoozi.

The outspoken political figure weighed in while responding to a post by Hon. Nameere concerning the minister and budget-related discussions in Munyonyo.

Taking the gloves off, Mwesigye reportedly referred to Babalanda as a “fat minister” before demanding answers over what he alleged was an attempt to intimidate government officials supporting Gen. Muhoozi.

“My sister Nameere, ask that minister why she sent a threatening message to all RDCs in Uganda on 18th September this year, warning them that anyone who picked up a pen or marker to endorse Gen. @mkainerugaba would immediately lose their job,” Mwesigye wrote.

He further challenged any RDC who received the alleged message to come forward and confirm the claim, insisting that, to his understanding, the communication had reached all RDCs.

The allegations have not been independently verified, and Babalanda’s response to Mwesigye’s claims was not available at the time of publication.

‘BONA NABAPAKASI!’

Mwesigye did not stop at the alleged threats. He reminded Babalanda and the RDCs that they were all public servants whose positions were subject to the appointing authority.

“Both the RDCs and she herself are workers (bona nabapakasi). None of them owns the offices they occupy,” he argued, stressing that public officials were expected to discharge their duties professionally and responsibly.

He questioned whether intimidation of fellow public servants was the legacy the minister wanted to leave behind, insisting that public office should be about service rather than threats.

MUHOOZI SUCCESSION POLITICS HEAT UP?

The latest exchange comes amid heightened political debate over Gen. Muhoozi’s growing political profile and the activities of PLU, whose supporters have openly expressed ambitions for his future leadership.

Mwesigye’s broadside against Babalanda adds another twist to the political drama, raising questions about tensions among figures operating within Uganda’s ruling political establishment.

The controversy also comes against the backdrop of criticism directed at veteran politician a retired Maj. Gen from Luwero bush war, Gen. Kahinda Otafiire, who has recently faced attention over remarks concerning Gen. Muhoozi and the succession debate.

With allegations of intimidation now being aired publicly, the spotlight is firmly on Babalanda to respond to the claims and clarify whether RDCs were cautioned against endorsing the General.

For now, the political gossip mill is buzzing, and one question remains: Who is afraid of the Muhoozi endorsement pen?
