Five dead, scores injured in Buloba-Mityana road accident

Mpigi – A fatal accident that happened on Saturday evening at around 8pm, has left five dead and unconfirmed number rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital with serious injuries.

This has been confirmed by Uganda traffic police through the spokesperson ASP. Faridah Nampiima.

Speaking to Wallnetnews, Nampiima said that the accident happened on Saturday evening at around 8pm, around Buloba Forest Park along Mityana road, Buloba Forest Park claiming five lives.

Among the deceased, two were passengers from motor vehicle Reg no. UAV 515J, the other two from UBE 613E Toyota Hiace and the fifth was a Boda boda rider.

Preliminary findings according to police indicate that motor vehicle registration number UAX 628S Scania loaded with parked water from Kampala side heading to Mityana, had a puncture, lost control and rammed into five motor vehicles; UBE613E Toyota Hiace , UAR 175W Isuzu Elf, UAX783F Mitsubishi Pajero, and UFL 384D Bajaj Boxer.

Nampima however noted that, Police is still trying to ascertain the number of the injured that were rushed to Mulago Hospital. “More inquiries into the matter are underway and more details will be availed in due course,” said Nampima.

Most accidents on Ugandan roads are attributed to reckless driving and lack of compliance to road signs, and traffic guidelines.
