Luwero Central Secondary School has sent a strong warning to its rivals ahead of the upcoming USSSA Greater Luwero Zone Ball Games II Mind Games Qualifiers, following an impressive debut performance at the USSSA Luwero District Ball Games II qualifiers held in Zirobwe.
The school secured its first-ever qualification to the Greater Luwero Zone Championships after finishing third in the district competition, behind champions Katikamu SDA and runners-up Janan Schools Bombo.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for the rapidly growing institution, which continues to make strides in school sports despite being a newcomer on the competitive stage.
The USSSA Greater Luwero Zone Mind Games Qualifiers are scheduled to take place on June 28, 2026, at Nakasongola Army Secondary School, where more than sixteen schools are expected to battle for qualification to the national championships.
Having earned their place among the district’s best, Luwero Central Secondary School is leaving no stone unturned in preparation for the highly anticipated competition.
According to the school’s Games Teacher, Ocen William, the technical team has already embarked on intensive preparations aimed at improving areas that were identified as weaknesses during the district qualifiers.
“We are working on the areas where we did not perform well during the district competition. The players have shown great commitment, and our focus now is to build a stronger team capable of competing at the highest level,” Ocen told Wallnetnews Digital.
He noted that while finishing third at the district level was a commendable achievement for the school’s first appearance, the ambition now is much bigger.
“We finished in third position at the district qualifiers, which was a good start. However, having qualified for the zonal championships, our focus is to finish among the top teams and secure qualification to the USSSA National Ball Games II,” he said.
Qualification to the national championships would represent another historic achievement for the school and further validate the efforts being invested in developing mind games talent.
The USSSA National Ball Games II Championships are scheduled to take place next month at Sacred Heart Secondary School in Gulu, where the country’s top-performing schools will compete for national honours.
With confidence growing within the camp and preparations gathering momentum, Luwero Central Secondary School believes it has what it takes to challenge the established giants of mind games within the Greater Luwero Zone.
As the countdown to Nakasongola continues, the debutants will be aiming to build on their district success and continue their remarkable journey by earning a coveted place at the national championships.
For a school making its first steps on the competitive stage, the message is already clear: Luwero Central Secondary School is not travelling to the zonal qualifiers merely to participate, but to compete and make history.
