Welden School, Royal Giants USSSA ban lifted with caution

The Mbarara and Mityana based schools will be playing at this year’s Uganda secondary schools sports association (USSSA) games 2024.

The Uganda district school giants Welden school from Mbarara and Royal Giants high school from Mityana get back into competitions after having successfully appealed for the lift of the ban by the National Appeals committee.
Both Welden School and Royal Giants high school were slapped with a one year  ban with some of their players banned for life after their teams went on to breach the Uganda secondary schools sports association rules and regulations.

It should be noted that during the Uganda secondary schools sports associations – national U20 boys football championship held at Nyakasura school in Fort Portal, in May 14th 2023, the USSSA disciplinary committee disqualified and slapped a one year ban on both Welden school and Royal giants high school for fielding impersonators which is against the USSSA competition rules.

Both schools appealed to the National Appeals committee on May 15th 2023 as regard to their disqualification from all sanctioned USSSA competitions and the committee on November 9th 2023 sat to listen to both schools’ submissions at GNS Plaza hotel.

According to letter  seen by wallnetnews dated January 3rd 2024,signed by  The Commissioner of Physical education and sports also the chairman of the national appeals committee Rev Can Duncan Mugumya  lifted the ban of 365 days that was slapped on both Welden school -Mbarara and Royal Giants high school -Mityana and have been cleared to take part in next years schools activities.

But on Welden school -Mbarara the national appeals committee has banned a student Wilber Luganzi aka Kimera Micheal Kibi holder of PLE Index Number 007797/128/2018 from all Uganda secondary schools sports association organised competitions upon inconsistency found in his PLE passlip index number 007797/128/2018 and FUFA licence ID Number 1GBZMB2.

However both schools were cautioned to follow USSSA rules and regulations as action will be taken upon breaking of the rules.

Mugabe Yassin the director Welden school -Mbarara when contacted by wallnetnews upon hearing the news couldn’t hide his happiness.

” Praise to almighty Allah, this is the best happy new year 2024 gift i didn’t expect,  I am so happy, really happy,” said Mugabe.

“Since last year i have been praying to allah to see that the ban be lifted and my prayers have been answered, i want to assure you that, its time now i prepare for this years USSSA-district and zonal qualifiers am bringing a youth team that will shock the Mbarara people and am assuring you wallnetnews i will win both district and zonal qualifiers 2024, am coming back to National due in Masaka,” he added.
