Welden School Mbarara are 2024 USSSA -Ankole zone champions

Ibanda – Welden School Mbarara has once again etched their name in the annals of football history by reclaiming the USSSA Ankole zone boys football title in 2024.

This victory marks a triumphant return to the top of the podium for Welden School, who clinched their first championship in 2018.

In a thrilling showdown at the Ibanda Core PTC grounds in Ibanda on  Sunday April 14, 2024 Welden School emerged triumphant as the 2024 USSSA-Ankole Zone boys football champions. The stage was set for an epic final clash, and Welden School rose to the occasion, delivering a commanding performance against St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School by 2-0.

From the opening whistle, both teams displayed skill, determination, and unwavering resolve. The atmosphere was electric as fans cheered on their respective teams, knowing that victory hung in the balance.
Welden School seized the initiative early on, pressing forward with purpose and precision. Their efforts were soon rewarded when they found the breakthrough, slotting home a goal to take the lead and send their supporters into raptures.

But Welden School was not content to rest on their laurels. They continued to press forward, applying relentless pressure on the St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School defense. Their persistence paid off once again as they doubled their advantage with another well-taken goal, further cementing their grip on the game.

Despite a valiant effort from St. Kagwa Bushenyi High School to mount a comeback, Welden School held firm, showcasing resilience and defensive solidity to maintain their lead until the final whistle.

Since their last triumph, Welden School has been on a relentless journey of perseverance, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence on the football pitch. Their players, coaches, and supporters alike have remained unwavering in their commitment to reclaiming the coveted title, channeling their passion and determination into every training session and match.

The road to redemption was paved with challenges and obstacles, but Welden School never wavered in their resolve. With grit and determination, they overcame formidable opponents, battled through intense competition, and emerged victorious in the USSSA Ankole Zone Boys Football tournament.

As they bask in the glory of their success, Welden School looks ahead to the future with renewed determination and ambition. Their victory in 2024 reaffirms their status as a footballing powerhouse in the Ankole Zone and sets the stage for even greater achievements in the years to come.

PES commissioner Rev. Can. Dr. Duncan Mugumya presided over the finals. Since USSSA-Ankole zone has four slots, that means the two finalists are joined by St Augustine Minor Seminary Ntungamo, and Ryakasinga CHE Sheema as representatives in the forthcoming USSSA boys national football championship due in Masaka starting at the end of April.
