The Uganda boxing federation (UBF) has projected a successful 2024 for the boxing community saying they should expect a lot of events both local, continental and international ones.

Talking to  ‘wallnetnews’  the UBF president Moses Muhangi  said  if they get full support  from the government, this year is also going to be remarkable in terms of achievements to be recorded.

“As UBF, we are always grateful for support we get from the government no matter its little and whenever we have an event, they do not hesitate to give us a guiding hand on what we ought to do to produce meaningful results.
“In this regard, we appreciate their assistance and without doubt, the same good gesture will continue this year so that boxing, which is the most loved sport, should continue to grow,” he said.

Moreover, he pointed out that plans are in the pipeline to organise a workshop for boxers drawn from different parts of the country on the importance of branding themselves and how to win fans for themselves.

“This is one of the critical areas that we need the boxers to fully understand because when they brand themselves well, then it becomes easy for them to be marketable thereby attracting more fans to come and support them during national opens, Novices and champions league events.

“We have many boxers but most of them are not aware of the importance of branding, as  the Uganda boxing federation president alongside Topboy and UBF marketing Committee,  we are going to give them tips on how they can easily achieve that,” he added.

Muhangi also seized the platform to remind boxers to always embrace discipline in their work since whatever they do has an impact on the communities where they live and should  continue adhering to the available guidelines of  boxing to uphold their credibility in this sport.

“We have our policies that must be respected by all boxers, it is their responsibility to ensure that they do not go against them and this year, we hope that all of them will respect the existing regulations,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muhangi said this year, for the first time, in the history of Uganda Boxing, Uganda boxing federation with TopBoy will organise Boxing Awards  the dates and month was not  communicated but he confirmed that the awards will go into history accompanied with envelopes, key players in this sport will be acknowledged with awards for their contributions to scaling up boxing.
