Ntungamo RDC Rallies Residents To Embrace Community Hygiene Practices

The RDC Ntungamo Mucunguzi Geoffrey has called all local leaders and general public at large to embrace community work commonly known as bulungi bwansi every week as one way to promote sanitation and hygiene in their communities.

RDC Mucunguzi who is also a member of Lions Club International said that due to limited funds to town councils and sub-counties across the country leaders should mobilize their voters to participate in bulungi bwansi for their towns.

He made the remarks on Wednesday while launching general cleanliness in Nyamunuuka Town council Kajara County organized by Lions Club of Ntungamo under the campaign dubbed protect the environment and keep it clean aimed at cleaning all towns in Ntungamo District.

Lion Mucunguzi further asked public and town dwellers to clean their places of work instead of littering them in order to avoid diseases.

He commended the role played by the members of Lions Club of Ntungamo  appealing to the community to borrow a leaf from them.

The President Lions Club of Ntungamo Lion Kazoora Venenscias s thanked the people of Nyamunuuka Town council for participating in the general cleaning but asked them to continue with the gesture.

Lion Kazoora hailed the Lion members especially Rev Fr Oscar Ahimbisibwe the parish priest of Kishariro Catholic parish and Lion Enock Basude the Town clerk Nyamunuuka Town council for inviting them.

Rev. Fr. Oscar Ahimbisibwe Omutsyatsya the parish priest of Kishariro Catholic parish welcomed the Lions club members and asked parents to mentor their children in a manner that glorifies God and engage them in sanitation and hygiene activities.

The Veteran journalist and panelist Lauben Matsiko alias Omucencuzi appealed to the government to increase funding that will enable leaders to get rid of rubbish in towns.

Omucencuzi Matsiko thanked all the people of Nyamunuuka and Lions Club Members for turning up in big numbers to clean their town.

Other speakers were councilor Aidah Twinamatsiko, Enock Basude the Town clerk, deputy chairperson Nyamunuulka Town council Florence Bananukire Igusha and mayor Ntungamo Municipality Jacob Kafureeka.

Later Rev. Fr. Oscar Ahimbisibwe Omutsyatsya hosted the Lions Club of Ntungamo members to a buffet at the Presbytery.
