National Resistance Movement (NRM) National Treasurer Amb. Barbara Nekesa Oundo has donated a piece of land to the ruling party for the construction of its offices in Busia District.

Amb. Nekesa handed over a freehold land title measuring 0.111 hectares to the NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, on behalf of the party Secretariat.

The land is located at Plot 31, Hadongole Road, in Busia Municipality.

Explaining the decision to donate the property, Amb. Nekesa said she had acquired it in July 2011, shortly after the start of the 9th Parliament, but it had remained undeveloped for nearly 15 years.

“I procured this land in July 2011, just a month into the 9th Parliament. I later acquired different properties after that and subsequently developed them, but for close to 15 years, this particular one has remained vacant. I think it was meant to host the Party in Busia District,” she said.

She added that donating the property to the NRM was a fulfilment of what she believed had been its intended purpose.

“I am, therefore, more than happy to now donate it to where it was destined to be,” Amb. Nekesa told the Secretary General and other top management leaders.

In response, Rt. Hon. Todwong commended the National Treasurer for her commitment and dedication to the growth of the NRM.

He described her gesture as an example of exemplary leadership and service to the party, particularly among its members in Busia District.

“You have demonstrated exemplary leadership to the NRM members in Busia and the country at large,” Todwong said.

The donation provides the NRM with land in Busia Municipality on which to establish party offices, strengthening its administrative presence in the district.
