Kayabwe – Traffic Police at Kayabwe Thursday morning registered an incident of fire that gutted a vehicle along the Kampala-Masaka highway that involved a blue Range Rover sport registration number UAS O66Q belonging to Peter Emorut a businessman in Kampala.
Preliminary details indicate that the incident happened at around 8:40 am as the driver of the vehicle Joshua Emorut was driving towards Masaka city from Kampala.
The Traffic Police Directorate spokesperson ASP Faridah Nampiima said the vehicle developed a mechanical fault and smoke began fuming from the engine forcing the driver to instantly park it upon alert by other motorists.
Nampiima told journalists that efforts by the locals to put out the fire went futile and the car burnt to ashes but Emurot managed to escape unhurt.
Meanwhile an accident left one person dead and several others injured in Madi Okollo district when a truck registration number UAP 193Z lost control and overturned at Eniobe village along Arua–Rhino Camp road Thursday morning.

The North Western Region Police spokesperson Josephine Angucia identified the deceased as 85 year old Baifa Ocokoru a businesswoman resident of Ale Village, Ewadri Parish in Katrini sub-county in Terego district.
Angucia noted that preliminary investigations indicate that the cause of the accident was the bad weather which rendered the road impassable because the lorry usually operates between Arua town and Rhino Camp on a daily basis.
Angucia, however, said more inquiries are still ongoing into the matter to establish other factors that may have contributed to the fatal accident.
