It’s going to be fireworks at St Mary’s stadium Kitende as the Royals visit the Startimes Uganda premier league defending champions Vipers sc.

It will be the first match for Kitara football team playing under flood lights since the 2023-2024 Startimes uganda premier league kicked off and it will be second versus third on the table as well as   Frank Zaga Tumwesigye facing off with his former employers.

Thursday’s Uganda premier league encounter at Vipers SC will be all about business as Tumwesigye  returns to St Mary’s stadium-Kitende for the first time since leaving the Venoms.

Zaga arrived at Kitara in August on a year long contract, part of the Royals’ squad strengthening ahead of their top flight return after winning the FUFA Big league 2022-2023 trophy.

While he admits it will be quite an emotional feeling going back to the club he joined as a teenager, he said it will be a special atmosphere for him when the game starts according to the Kitara website.

“I’m going back to a place that is very familiar, the people are not new because some are my friends. I know it will be a bit strange but that will not be a problem because as a player when you move to another club these moments are bound to happen.

“I have been in this place several times, it’s special because I played and trained here but changes happen in football. I’ll be returning to St Mary’s as a Royal.”

Kitara will be visiting the St Mary’s stadium for the second time since the 2020-2021 campaign when they lost 2-1. Brian Muruli scored the Royals’ consolation goal while Dan Sserunkuma and Paul Mucureezi netted for Vipers.

Meanwhile, Zaga is not the only one who will be visiting Kitende for the first time switching allegiance.
Paul Mucureezi and goal keeper Farouk Yawe have played for the Venoms and Junior team respectively and will be looking forward to this visit.
“It will be a proud moment for all of us after this while, some of us left as teenagers but return as tested players. We have to be at our best. We want to be very competitive and hopefully we get good results,” Yawe added.
