Kabale – Civil servants have been warned not to get involved in corruption practices if they are to deliver services to their communities.
The warning was sounded by Godfrey Nyakahuma, the Kabale Resident District commissioner on Friday while speaking to our reporter in his office located at the district headquarters in Kabale municipality.
Nyakahuma said these after discovering that most of civil servants especially at sub-county level have embezzled government funds that are meant to do developments in the sub-counties they lead.
He said the government of Uganda has disbursed a lot of money to do developmental activities most especially in local communities but surprisingly much and a big percentage of the money have been embezzled by the so-called sub-county chiefs and town clerks, saying that as the office of the president they will not tolerate this habit which has made majority of Ugandans suffer in their areas.

Recently Police in Kabale district arrested two Rubaya sub-county officials, Ivan Mugayehwenkyi the sub-county chief and Wilberforce Tumwesigye, the treasurer for embezzling Ugx67m, and police is hunting for Alex Ampeire, the Ryakarimira Town Clerk for embezzling Ugx105m that was meant to do developments in Rubaya sub-county and Ryakarimira Town Council respectively both in Kabale district in one month.
