The Organisers of Miss Tourism Ankole 2024 /2025 have appealed to the Government of Uganda to also give some support towards preparations of the Miss Tourism events from various regions in the country.
This call was made during the auditions and the launch of Miss Tourism Ankole Region that was held at African Pot Hotel in Mbarara where about 15 contestants were auditioned. This Audition is the 2024/2025 and the 10th since 2013.
According to Organisers, this year’s Miss Tourism Ankole pageant is going to take place in Bushenyi District at Western Meridian Hotel on 20th July 2024 starting from 3:00pm.
Sharon Nayebare, the Public Relations Officer Miss Tourism Ankore said that the role of Miss Tourism Queens is basically to market Tourism destinations in the regions once they get the Ambassadorial jobs.
The Miss Tourism Ankole aims at promoting local tourism in Ankole and to promote domestic tourism and Agro-tourism in the region and in particular the Miss Tourism Ankole Queens’ role is to market Ankole’s beauty. From that basis, the organisers want government to start supporting these events and be part because tourism in Uganda is one of the main sources of revenue for this country’s economy.
“We are a private organisation that has tried to promote tourism in this county but we have a challenge of funds to run these events. We hustle to get the sponsors, therefore we really need support from the government and tourism bodies like the ministry of Tourism because we are marketing the institution. We would really want the monetary support to facilitate the events, if they are like let every region get some support towards the preparation to the event, there we can promote tourism more than we do it today” said Nayebare
Enock Tayebwa, the Managing Director Miss Tourism Ankole Region reveals that as a private organisation, they hustle to get resources to run the Miss Tourism events. “I call upon the Government to inject in money to promote tourism sites and these are the girls who are going to promote those tourism sites through public awareness campaigns. Let the Government support these beauty Queens so that they can easily promote public awareness of the tourism sites within every region” said Tayebwa
