USSSA releases strong 55 Athletes for FEASSA Games 2024

The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has announced a formidable squad of 55 athletes who will begin training in preparation for the FEASSA Games 2024. The games are scheduled to take place at Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College School from August 16 to 27, 2024.

According to documents seen by Wallnetnews, the selected team comprises 29 boys and 26 girls. These athletes were chosen based on their outstanding performances during the National Ball Games Two – Athletics Championship held at Teso College – Aloet. The team is set to enter camp on August 1, 2024, at Ndejje University.

The Acholi zone dominates the list, contributing a lion’s share of 16 athletes, with 9 girls and 7 boys. Sebei zone follows with 11 athletes in total, including 3 girls and 8 boys. Meanwhile, Bunyoro and Kampala zones each have only one athlete selected for the team.

It is noteworthy that in last year’s FEASSA Games held in Huye, Rwanda, the Uganda team finished in second place, narrowly beaten by Kenya. Determined to improve on this performance and secure the athletics trophy, USSSA is leaving no stone unturned. The association aims to ensure that the trophy remains on Ugandan soil, emphasizing the importance of rigorous preparation and training for this year’s competition.

The selected athletes are expected to train intensively in the lead-up to the games, as Uganda seeks to showcase its athletic prowess and achieve top honors at the FEASSA Games 2024.
