ROAD TO 2026: NUP’s Twinomujuni to tassel it out with Kabasharira in Rushenyi

NTUNGAMO: Drawing closer to 2026 general elections, Rushenyi’s current legislator Hon. Naome Kabasharira might be blessing her last moments in Uganda’s August house. As we talk, the famous radio journalist in Ntungamo district, Davis Twinomujuni Bunaana aka TBs, recently resigned from his media work to penetrated Rushenyi Constituency political grassroots by showing his optimism in representing them come 2026.
Twinomujuni grew to media fame, when he started working with a local radio station called Thunder FM and later to Mpororo radio both in Rubaare town council, Rushenyi County in Ntungamo district. He has since resigned to join the political space. The outspoken radio commentator, Twinomujuni holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness management from Bishop Stuart University and a Diploma in Secondary Education from Kyambogo University.
While speaking with our reporter via a telephone interview, Twinomujuni said that he has been in the media space not because he had qualifications but it’s because of rampant unemployment that is eating up the youthful generation in Uganda. Adding that it is his main focus to see how unemployment can be tackled in Uganda. He also revealed that he will joining Uganda’s political waters under the National Unity Platform Party (NUP) as a political vehicle.
When asked why NUP, yet Rushenyi is dominated by NRM, Twinomujuni said that he is optimistic that the National Unity Platform (NUP) party has its developmental objectives, like fighting corruption, removing political dispensation, fighting for human rights, among others that have been affecting Ugandans.
The hopeful Parliamentarian added that corruption and political dispensation have been among the factors crippling developmental systems in the country. He explained that he joined the National Unity Platform (NUP) because of it’s ambitious leaders who have have opened the eyes of youths to see far and also calling for straightforwardness about their future generation.
He further rallied fellow youths to join the war to fight with those that are there to break their way to bright future. Twinomujuni said all Ugandans must use the voting axis against leaders who promote sectarianism and with selfish interests and think of leaders who can unite Ugandans. Conclusively, he encouraged the youths to be innovative and creative since Uganda is almost becoming a battlefield for survival.
2021 Elections
Rushenyi, is currently represented by Hon. Noeme Kabasharira who defeated the former Attorney General Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana on an independent ticket. The seat was contested by four candidates and Hon. Kabasharira trounced them with 22,152 against Rukutana’s 19,417 votes, while others like Eric Kahumuza trolled with 229 and another independent candidate Benjamin Bimanywaruhanga who got  216 votes. Political naysayers have since described the entrance to NUP’s Twinomujuni as a political headache since NUP commands most of the youths as a voting pertern.
