IBA President Umar Kremlev coming back to Uganda

Uganda Boxing Federation will host the International Boxing Association President Umar Kremlev  for the second time.

Kremlev will arrive in Uganda on Friday, November 17th 2023 and will be welcomed by Uganda boxing federation president Moses Muhangi and executive at Entebbe international airport  this will be his second visit in the country since his first visit on November 30 2022.

During his first visit to Uganda on the Invitation of President Moses Muhangi, Kremlev’s visit aims was  to strengthen the boxing sport, build capacity, and strengthen ties with the international body.

Kremlev, who was in the company of, among others, Africa Boxing Confederation President Bertrand Mendouga, Siyabulela Cecil Nkwalo of South Africa, Azamia Omo-Agege of Nigeria, who had arrived at Entebbe Airport earlier  met with stakeholders in the sports sector led by State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang, Uganda Boxing Federation Patron Captain Mike Mukula,  at Serena Hotel during a breakfast meeting. Kremlev reiterated his commitment to constructing a state-of-the-art boxing academy for Uganda.

“Africa is a unique continent, and Uganda is a unique country because they glorify boxing. Boxing is very popular in Africa, which is why some of the greatest boxers in the world current and past have roots in Africa,” said Kremlev.

Kremlev headed to Matugga in Nansana Municipality, where he laid a foundation for constructing the 5-million-dollar boxing academy where he was so  happy to launch the construction of the academy and happy to meet boxers.
On behalf of IBA, President Kremlev gifted to young athletes and coaches boxing equipment.

It should be noted that Kremlev  is one person who wants to see dreams of the  young athletes come true and it’s  the most important part of the whole mission of IBA. Athletes need to be raised inside their country to glorify its flag and anthem. The mission of sports officials is to create conditions for it.

He also paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Anne  Among, and the Katikkiro of Buganda Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga in Bulange, Mengo.

The President of the Uganda Boxing Federation Moses Muhangi said, “The creation of the future Academy is a huge step towards the growth of boxing in Uganda, it will help us in many ways, for example we will be able to host continental and international events here which will benefit the country in many ways,”
According to sources, his coming back is to follow on the project and is to meet boxers plus other stakeholders.
