Ham to host mega thanksgiving ceremony, invites President Museveni

ARUA. Ham Muzamil Ezama, the Arua Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) in charge of the Central Division has invited President Yoweri Museveni to grace his thanksgiving ceremony to be hosted at Arua primary school play ground on Saturday June 8, 2024.

The development was made public during the launch of the thanksgiving meetings symbolized by cutting of a ribbon at Hotel Le Tshuba in Arua city on Friday.

During the launch, Ezama assured the public that he has extended an invitation to his appointing officer to come and preside over the event that is expected to attract over 10,000 people from the different parts of the country.

“I want to thank the President for the opportunity he has given me to serve. First, as the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Arua district and now as the Deputy RCC of Arua city. For the two years I have worked, people have been able to see the good work I have done, and I now feel it is the right time to thank my President, Yoweri Museveni Kaguta for giving me this opportunity,” Ezama said.

“I have invited the President to personally come for this function and I am quite sure he is going to come and equally interact with you my people of Arua city and West Nile at large,” Ezama remarked as he outlined the numerous achievements he has made in the last two years in office.

Ezama appealed to the people of West Nile to turn up for the function in big numbers so as to also join him in giving thanks to President Museveni for the prevailing peace he ushered in the country.

“We love President Museveni so much. As people from Arua city, we are behind the President. The President has done a lot for us especially when it comes to the issue of security in the entire country and that is why we have never crossed any border seeking for refuge; there is no war. We instead receive refugees coming to this country because of the peaceful co-existence in our country. So, I want to tell the country that we are inviting the President to come and receive thanks from the people of Arua city. It is my occasion but I can’t do it alone. That is why you see very many people are here,” Ezama said.

According to Hamza Eranya, the central organizing committee chairperson for the function, they did wide consultations involving so many stakeholders about the upcoming ceremony.

“The consultation involved farmers, youths, the women and it involved the elderly. Now the consensus these different groups have developed is one, that for the first time in West Nile, let us talk about the good we have got from this government and let us say thank you!” Eranya said.

In his remarks, Godfrey Mbigiti Jonah, the Arua Deputy RCC in charge of Ayivu Division commended Ezama for thinking of organizing the function, saying it is always good to say thank you for what you have received however little or big it is, God will reward you more.
