Godfrey Kabyanga, the State Minister of ICT and National Guidance Thursday made a significant contribution to the Kabaka Birthday Run by purchasing kits worth UGX 20 million in support of the upcoming event this Sunday.

Hon Kabyanga took to social media to express the League’s reverence for the Royal Kingdom of Buganda, where they participated in preparations for the Kabaka Royal Birthday Run at Bulange, Mengo.

His message conveyed appreciation for the Kingdom’s support towards the NRM Government’s efforts, emphasizing the goal of achieving zero new HIV/AIDS infections by 2030.

“Distinguished citizens, earlier today, the Patriotic League of Uganda had the honor of extending our respects to the Royal Kingdom of Buganda at Bulange, Mengo, where we patriotically  joined preparations for the forthcoming Kabaka Royal Birthday Run.” Kabyanga tweeted.

The Minister conveyed a message from the chairperson of Patriotic League of Uganda, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba who commended His Royal Majesty Ssabasajja Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi, Owek. Katikiro Mayiga and his cabinet for their open door policy and selfless support they have given to the NRM Government and President H.E Kaguta Museveni in ensuring zero new infections of HIV/AIDS by 2030.

The League’s initiative has sparked a wave of support from various quarters, with politicians, including Speaker of Parliament Honorable Anita Among and Deputy Speaker Honorable Thomas Tayebwa, flocking to Bulange Mengo to purchase kits for the marathon.

Notably, the Uganda Parliament has rallied behind the cause, contributing a generous sum of 50 million Uganda shillings to support the Kabaka Birthday Run. Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, in receiving the donation, urged parliamentarians to prioritize social transformation initiatives over political pursuits, emphasizing the importance of health, education, and economic development.

The involvement of religious leaders, exemplified by the newly consecrated Bishop of Luwero, Bishop Wilson Kisekka, further underscores the collective effort towards bolstering the fight against HIV/AIDS. Bishop Kisekka’s delegation, joining others at Bulange Mengo, symbolizes a united front in harnessing resources for the betterment of society.

Additionally, members of the Buganda Caucus have demonstrated their commitment by purchasing kits worth UGX 1.5 million, reinforcing the community’s resolve to support initiatives that promote public health and well-being.

The Kabaka Birthday Run, slated for April 7th, aims to encourage men to take an active role in combating HIV/AIDS, echoing the broader societal commitment to public health.

The gesture by PLU underscores the League’s commitment to advancing public health initiatives and raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, aligning with this year’s theme, “Men are stars in the fight against HIV/AIDS to save the Girl Child.”

As the countdown to the Kabaka Birthday Run continues, the convergence of political, religious, and community leaders reflects a shared determination to address the challenges posed by HIV/AIDS and work towards a healthier future for all Ugandans.
