FDC Katonga sprinter group holds it’s first National Council meeting as flares of New political formation intensifies

KAMPALA – The splinter group of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) sitting at it’s headquarters at Katonga spent the whole of their Wednesday in their National council.

The council which was chaired by Ambassador Waswa Birigwa was presided over by FDC’s interim President also Lord Mayor of Kampala Erias Lukwago.

In his report to the Council, he highlighted the progress and actions undertaken by the Party since it’s last Delegates Conference at the same venue on 19th September 2023, in which Eng. Patrick Amuriat, Hon.Nandala Mafabi and Hon. Godfrey Ekenya were suspended and a new leadership instituted to lead the Party.

He stated that the Party amongst others has since carried out structure building exercises from Villages to District levels across the Country, handled litigation matters with imposters at Najjanankumbi and beefed up its legal team for the same.

He however observed that currently there different permutations by Party members on the way forward a matter that the National Council resolved to be handle at an extended two months consultative engagements across the Country and subsequently the Delegates Conference.

Addressing the National Council meeting, FDC founding President Dr. Kizza Besigye said the NRM government is currently at its weakest and the Country is ripe for change.
He called on all change seeking forces to galvanize themselves and push for the change that Ugandans have for long yearned for.

The National Council also received status reports from the Secretary General Harold Kaija, Electoral Commission Chairperson Michael Kabaziguruka, Treasurer Mwijukye Francis and MPs.

The National Council that was composed of the newly elected District Chairpersons who emerged from grassroots structures building processes, extended by two months period the Delegates Conference to 19th May, 2024.
