Congolese politician Autsai receives heroic welcome, praises Museveni

DRC. Medard Asenga Autsai, a renowned politician in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has received a heroic welcome in his home town of Aru in Eastern DRC.

Autsai, who left Kinshasa on Tuesday jetted at Entebbe International Airport before connecting to Arua Airfield on Wednesday.

In Arua, Autsai was warmly welcomed by Ugandans and Congolese living in Arua city. He later addressed a press conference in Arua town before crossing the border to Aru where thousands of locals accorded him a heroic welcome.

During the press conference, Autsai praised Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni for promoting peace between the two countries.

He also commended Museveni for developing Uganda citing the good road network in the country.

“President Museveni is a good person who has done a lot for Ugandans for the last 37 years. When I come to Uganda, I feel at home because of the peace President Museveni has brought. Museveni has built good roads, schools and hospitals for you people, so you need to support him,” Autsai said.

Autsai came ahead of the December 20, Congolese elections to prepare his people to vote for his biological son, Patrice Adriko Autsai, who is contesting as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lower House of DRC.

While in Aru, Autsai cheered up the crowd that turned up to welcome him and asked the people to remain peaceful ahead of the coming election.

Autsai was the governor of Orientale Province from 24 February 2007 to 5 March 2012. On 30 April 2010 Autsai was made Grand Commander of the National Order of the Leopard, the highest civilian decoration in the country.

He is currently the Senator of the Orientale Province in the Eastern DR Congo to the House of Senators in Kinshasa,

Médard Autsai Asenga was born in 1942.He was born in a modest Christian family in Aru, Ituri Province as his mother’s only son.
