Buganda Region Football Associations Pass UGX 244M for FY 2024

The 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Buganda Region Football Associations held at Kavumba Conference Hall in Wakiso District Football Association on Saturday, September 23rd September 2023 ended successfully.

The assembly  passed a budget of  UGX 244,965,500 ahead of the 2024 financial year with the Competitions taking the lion’s share UGX 66,960,000 which will cover Organization of competitions, Prize money, Referees mater and licensing.

UGX 41,500,000 was allocated for Football development which has capacity building, Workshop and refreshers sessions, Administration with UGX  31,260,000, Governance with UGX 30,500,000, Regional Team (FUFA Drum Team) with UGX 25,000,000, while the Chairman office with UGX 10,000,000, Marketing and Communication with UGX  8,000,000 and Members with UGX  5,700,000.

The assembly was attended by delegates from the Buganda Region Football Associations Districts, executive committee members, and chaired by Buganda Region Football Associations chairman Andrew Kaweesa while Federation of Uganda football association  (FUFA), was represented by Executive committee members, Rogers Mulindwa alongside Sam Mpiima who is also an executive committee member of FUFA and FUFA  CEO, Edgar Watson Suubi.

Ahead of next season, the assembly resolved to take Women Football as close as possible to local people up to zone level so as to make it possible for mass football in Buganda Region.

In 2022-2023 football season, Mukono District Football Associations registered the highest number of players  with a total of 1022 in both 4th division with 487 and 5th division with 535 followed by Wakiso DFA with 854 players, with  423 in 4th division and 431 in 5th division out of the 38 clubs in the two divisions.

Mityana DFA came in the 3rd position with 525 players in both divisions. 14 clubs in 4th division with 251 players while 5th division with 274 players from 12 clubs.

Buikwe DFA registered 480 players from 24 clubs with 16 clubs which competed in 4th division registering 333 players while 5th division with  147 from 8 clubs.

Luweero DFA registered 423 players from 21 clubs with Kayunga DFA registering 337 players from 18 clubs, Mubende had  290 players, Mpigi DFA with  286 players, Kyotera with  272, Nakaseke with 258, Kiboga with  242, Lwengo with 225, Masaka DFA with 214, Bukomansimbi with 211, Kasanda with 197, Rakai with 194, Kalungu with 190, Nakasongola with 100 and Lyantonde with only  81.
In total, Buganda Region Football Associations registered 6,503 players from 313 clubs both from 4th and 5th division respectively.
While, other Five Districts namely; Butambala, Gomba, Ssembabule, Buvuma and Kalangala didnt  embrace football activities organized under Buganda Region Football Associations.

Under technical development, Buganda Region Football Associations empowered 175 personnel with knowledge and skills in football development and 30 people were empowered and graduated with CAF C, 35 with CAF D, 81 Beginners Coaching Courses and 29 were referees.
