With 99% enumerated household coverage, UBOS embarks on data processing, editing and analysis

Kampala – The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has embarked on data processing, editing and analysis after receiving a total of 99% enumerated households in the whole Country. This was revealed the Bureau’s Executive Director, Dr. Chris Mukiza during a press briefing on Tuesday morning at Statistics house in Kampala.

According to Dr. Mukiza, the Bureau already committed following Census Roadmap as it embarks on data processing, editing and analysis.

The preliminary results will be disseminated on 24th June 2024 to be followed by provisional results on 24th September 2024. The final report will be published on 24th December 2024.

He added that by the close of enumeration on Sunday 26th May 2024, overall coverage was 99 percent and the remaining one percent was attributed to the residents in gates that were not accessible, working single Household members such as workers in factories and mines, as well as those who refused to be enumerated.

The chief statician further noted that, raw data shows a significant increase in number of Households but with smaller Household size compared to the Census 2014. Adding that, in line with the internationally accepted best practice, the Post Enumeration Survey (PES) that aimed at validating the coverage and quality of data collected during the main Census enumeration will be conducted in before the end of July.

He explained that, PES is an independent statistical activity to be conducted by a team of experts that did not participate in the just concluded Census exercise. Census 2024 and that’s why, “It Matters to be Counted”.

In addition, Dr. Mukiza on behalf of the bureau thanked all Ugandans and the General public for the cooperation, support and responding to the questions during the Census 2024 enumeration. “The Bureau considers the enthusiasm in the Census 2024 as a sign of confidence in the Census processes” he said.

Mukiza, further extended his gratitude to the Local Governments leaders, District/ City Planners. District/ City Information Technology Officers, District / City Communication Officers, Sub-County and Parish Chiefs, as well as Local Council 1 & 2 for effectively spearheading Census activities from the District to the Village level.

In his conclusion, Mukiza thanked Enumerators and their Supervisors for great work done. “As the bureau we are grateful for your commitment and determination towards completing the assigned Enumeration Areas within allocated time” Mukiza said.
