Wakiso Hill WFC Advances to semi-finals in the Women Super Cup

It was a day of celebration on Sunday, June 2nd 2024 for Wakiso Hill Women’s Football Club (WFC) as they triumphed over Byafayo/Amus College School in the Women Super Cup quarter-finals at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

The team’s progress to the semi-finals was secured by a decisive 62nd-minute goal from Zaituna Namaganda.

The match, held in the vibrant atmosphere of St. Mary’s Stadium, saw both teams exhibiting strong performances.

However, it was Wakiso Hill WFC that emerged victorious, demonstrating superior strategy and teamwork.

The winning moment came when Zaituna Namaganda, a standout player for Wakiso Hill WFC, found the back of the net in the 62nd minute, sealing the fate of Byafayo/Amus College School and ensuring her team’s place in the next round of the competition.

The fans erupted in joy as the final whistle blew, marking a significant achievement for Wakiso Hill WFC.

The victory not only highlighted the team’s potential but also set a hopeful tone for their upcoming matches in the semi-finals of the Women’s Super Cup.

Byafayo/Amus College School’s head coach, Frank Anyau, thoughts on the match against Wakiso Hill WFC in the Women’s Super Cup quarter-finals at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

“First of all, I want to congratulate Wakiso Hill WFC on their victory,” Anyau began.

“They played a strong game and deserved to progress to the semi-finals. Our team gave its best, and I’m proud of the effort and determination shown by our players.”

Anyau acknowledged the critical moment of the match: “Zaituna Namaganda’s goal in the 62nd minute was a turning point. It was a well-executed play, and we were unable to recover from that. We had our chances but, unfortunately, could not convert them into goals.”

Reflecting on his team’s performance, Anyau said, “Despite the loss, there were many positives to take away. Our defense held strong for much of the game, and our midfielders showed great resilience. We will analyze our performance, learn from our mistakes, and come back stronger.”

Looking ahead, Anyau expressed optimism for the future: “This experience will serve as a valuable lesson for our team. We are determined to improve and continue to compete at a high level. Our journey doesn’t end here; we will keep working hard and aim for better results in the future.”

Meanwhile, Coach Frank Anyau’s remarks highlighted a sense of sportsmanship and a commitment to growth, promising a bright future for Byafayo/Amus College School’s football team.
