Uganda’s Formidables Swim club come 13th overall at Kenya Aquatics Masters Championships

Uganda’s Formidables Swim Club showcased their prowess once again at the highly competitive Kenya Aquatics Masters Championships held at Sabis International School in Runda Nairobi on Saturday, March 23 2024, clinching an impressive 13th place overall.

Despite stiff competition from seasoned swimmers and clubs, the Formidables displayed outstanding skill, determination, and team spirit throughout the event.

Led by their dedicated Captain Peter Senabakita, the Formidables swimmers consisting of Regan Ivan, Louis Wolimbwa, Catherine Nakimuli, Linda Namayajja and Donald Rukare demonstrated remarkable performances across various disciplines.

From sprint events to long-distance races, each member of the team contributed their best, pushing themselves to new limits in pursuit of excellence.

Looking at Medal tally, captain Peter Ssebanakitta won Silver in 100m freestyle, Gold in 50m breast, Silver in 50m freestyle and Bronze in 100×4 Medley relay, Catherine Nakimuli won Bronze in 50m Breast, Regan Iga won Bronze 50m freestyle and another bronze in 100×4 Medley Relay while Uganda Olympic committee president also a seasoned swimmer Donald Rukare won Gold in 100m Individual medley, Gold in 100m Freestyle, Gold in 50m Butterfly, Gold in 100m Breaststroke, Silver in 50m freestyle, Silver in 50m Breaststroke and Bronze in 100mx 4 medley relay.

Considering the size of the team, Uganda representatives Formidables Swim club finished 13th overall out of the 33 clubs, what a great performance.

The success achieved by the Formidables Swim Club not only highlights their individual talents but also underscores the strength of Uganda’s swimming community as a whole.

Their achievement serves as an inspiration to aspiring swimmers across the nation, proving that with hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment, anything is possible.

As they return home, the Formidables can take pride in their accomplishments at the Kenya Aquatics Masters Championships, knowing that they have represented Uganda with honor and distinction on the regional stage.

Their journey serves as a testament to the power of teamwork, perseverance, and the unyielding spirit of the Ugandan swimming community.

Meanwhile, talking to wallnetnews, Captain Peter Senabakita said they are looking forward to hosting masters teams from Kenya and the region soon in Kampala, Uganda.
