One might wonder why Zanzibar does not take part in these games yet in CECAFA they participate, In the 11th edition held in Arusha, 2021, Tanzania hosted the East African Inter-Parliamentary Games and Zanzibar for the first time represented but misbehaved and that’s why in 2022 they couldn’t participate in the games hosted in Juba, South Sudan and that year the games were played under the theme “Strengthening Integration through Inter- Parliamentary Games in the Covid-19 era”.
The 12th Inter-Parliamentary Games (IPG) that were held in Juba, South Sudan, 2022 for the first time were played under the theme; “Widening and Deepening Integration by increasing visibility to its citizens.”
The Inter-Parliamentary Games (IPG) are coordinated by the EALA on an annual basis. The IPG plays a fundamental role in enabling EALA’s interaction with members of the national parliaments, staff and citizens of East Africa.
Meanwhile, Members of Parliament and staff compete in various sports disciplines, including football, netball, athletics, tug-of-war, volleyball, golf, basketball and darts for People With Disabilities (PWD). PWD is a newly introduced sporting discipline.
