Uganda Parliament intensify preparations ahead of East Africa games

The East Africa Legislative games  will kick off in Kigali, Rwanda next month on Thursday, December 7th 2023.
The competition brings together members of parliament from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and host nation Rwanda.

Uganda is among the parliaments  that will compete in the tournament that will feature eight (08) sports disciplines. Wallnetnews Sports visited them in training at their bases at Lugogo and Nakasero.

Uganda parliament Teams, Netball, Soccer, Volleyball,Basketball have  intensified preparations ahead of what is termed as a clash of seeing that they come back victorious in all the sporting disciplines.

The Uganda parliamentary soccer team and Volleyball have been having a couple of friendly matches and according to our  sources all the teams will be having more of the friendly matches before traveling to  Kigali, Rwanda.

All the Head coaches of the Uganda parliamentary teams of Soccer, Netball, Volleyball, Basketball are yet to drop players  and they are still remaining with  provisional squads.

However, all coaches of different sporting disciplines talking to wallnetnews  said that they are still preparing the teams and eventually come next week all will be having  the final squads that will represent Uganda at the East Africa legislative community games in Rwanda.

One might wonder why Zanzibar does not take part in these games yet in CECAFA they participate, In the 11th edition held in Arusha, 2021,  Tanzania hosted the East African Inter-Parliamentary Games and Zanzibar for the first time represented but misbehaved and that’s why in 2022 they couldn’t participate in the games hosted in Juba, South Sudan and that year the games were played under the theme “Strengthening Integration through Inter- Parliamentary Games in the Covid-19 era”.

The 12th Inter-Parliamentary Games (IPG) that were held  in Juba, South Sudan, 2022 for the first time were played under the theme; “Widening and Deepening Integration by increasing visibility to its citizens.”
The Inter-Parliamentary Games (IPG) are coordinated by the EALA on an annual basis. The IPG plays a fundamental role in enabling EALA’s interaction with members of the national parliaments, staff and citizens of East Africa.

Meanwhile, Members of Parliament and staff compete in various sports disciplines, including football, netball, athletics, tug-of-war, volleyball, golf, basketball and darts for People With Disabilities (PWD). PWD is a newly introduced sporting discipline.
