Security foils armed robbery at Equity Bank Soroti branch

Security personnel from the police and the army foiled a robbery at Equity Bank’s Soroti branch.

The robbers allegedly tried to use a ladder to enter the bank, but security foiled their attempt.

“Kindly note that we had a distress incident this morning at our Soroti Branch where armed persons attempted to gain access into the banking hall,” the statement issued by the bank reads in part.

It has been reported that the robbery was attempted by six armed robbers wielding AK-47 guns.

Reports also say that the thugs escaped the crime scene. However, two people have been arrested to aid with investigations.

The arrested are two SGA security guards who have been guarding the bank.

The bank reported that no property or lives were damaged or lost during the unfortunate incident.

Normal banking services resumed thereafter.
