RDC orders arrest of defaulters of Sh1.2bn Emyooga funds

The Kibaale Resident District commissioner Angalia Godwin Kasigwa has ordered District Commercial and Production officers together with Kibaale Police to ensure recovery of 60 of sh1.2Bn Emyooga funds disbursed in the District.
In an evaluation and monitoring meeting held at Bwamiramira sub-county Headquarters Angalia disclosed that only 36.5% of sh1.2BN has been recovered as revolving funds from over 2000 beneficiaries of Emyooga funds in 36 SACCOS dealing in crop, Animal husbandry and other enterprises.
Angalia further noted that he has also embarked on arrest of farmers who harvest immature coffee as well as cooking it affecting value, quality and market coffee production. He ordered commercial officers and Police to ensure culprits are apprehended and charged in accordance with the law.
The Kibaale District Principal commercial officer Sedrack Isingoma and Mattovu Hassana the Principal Agriculture officer disclosed that defaulters claim that Emyooga funds acted an offer and appreciation by President Museveni meant for overwhelming votes to his Excellency while others are leaders who claim are untouchables.
The beneficiaries of Emyooga funds revealed that SACCOS have flourished and registered success in crop and animal husbandry while others collapsed due to misuse of funds. Successful beneficiaries Thanked President Museveni for improving their livelihood
