Kampala – Thursday, December 4th marked a significant milestone for Ugandan agriculture with the official launch of Meta Plant and Equipment Ltd, now the exclusive distributor of New Holland tractors, Field King, and Dezzi machinery in Uganda—brands previously handled by CMC Motors.

During the launch at the company’s Kireka headquarters on the outskirts of Kampala, Mr. Mark Davidson, Managing Director of Meta Plant and Equipment Uganda Ltd, described the event as a celebration of modern farming, mechanization, meaningful partnerships, and a brighter future for Uganda’s agricultural sector.

He applauded farmers for their resilience, dedication, and vital role in sustaining the nation, noting that their daily commitment—from early mornings to late evenings—keeps the ecosystem thriving.

Davidson emphasized that the company’s mission goes beyond supplying high-end machinery. They aim to build trust, strong relationships, and farmers’ capacity.

“We are committed to offering robust nationwide after-sales support, and by 2026 we plan to establish seven service and spare-parts centers across the country,” he said.

Mr. Apollo Okwir, a farmer from Amuria District who recently purchased a New Holland tractor from Meta Plant and Equipment, testified that the machine has increased his productivity.

He added that he now supports fellow farmers by hiring out the tractor to help them prepare their land.

The company is also focusing on farmer training and equipment demonstrations, supported by 24-hour technical assistance and a dedicated customer support team.

Meta Plant and Equipment envisions a future where every Ugandan farmer has access to world-class machinery and the skills to use it effectively.

Davidson also commended the Ugandan government for its continued support for agricultural mechanization and praised partners such as financial institutions and spare-parts suppliers for collaborating with them.

Farmers will be able to acquire equipment through loan arrangements with financial institutions including Centenary Bank, Equity Bank, and Dfcu Bank. These facilities offer flexible five-year repayment plans with interest rates starting at 25% per annum.

Agribusiness specialist Mr. Stephen Namunyale from Centenary Bank welcomed the partnership, noting that farmers can access financing through value-chain loans, SACCOs, and agricultural investment credit to purchase machinery.

With agriculture employing 60% of Uganda’s population, according to the 2024 National Population and Housing Census, increased mechanization is expected to boost farmers’ yields and strengthen national food security as the population is projected to reach 50 million within the next five years.

Meta Group, founded in 2011, operates in 170 countries worldwide and is recognized for its strong brand presence, reliable spare-parts supply, and partnerships with small and medium-scale farmers.
