Masaka ready to host USSSA-National boys football Championships

As Various districts jear up to start Uganda secondary schools sports association -boys football qualifiers 2024 early next month.
The National  Uganda Secondary School sports association (USSSA) Football Boys Championships will take place at Masaka secondary school in Masaka City  from Apirl 25th to May 5th, 2024.

The Wallnetnews  writer  was in Masaka secondary school on a fact finding mission and what he saw was very clear that they Masaka  are more than prepared to host a successful Championship.

But according to the writer it’s now upon the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Uganda secondary schools sports association (USSSA) to stamp and sign for them to be clear that they are ready to host the Championship.

According to wallnetnews sources, The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association –USSSA  and Ministry of Education and Sports officials from Physical Education department  inspection team is expected to visit the school, to assess the final progress on  all the playgrounds that will be used in the tournament, accommodation facilities, hotels, hospitals and meeting with the security and districts heads.

It should be noted that Masaka secondary school won the bid to host this year’s championship and St.Joseph Nazareth placed on standby.The decision was made during the Pre-AGM EXCOM meeting that was held at GNS Hotel, Old Kampala.

Since the school has only two playgrounds, they sourced for other playgrounds from the neighboring institutions and schools  to be used and Masaka city playgrounds are in a radius of 3km from Masaka secondary school.

The others are at St Henry’s Kitovu, Hill Road Primary school, Masaka recreation ground, Gayaza public playground, Paul and Pauline secondary school play ground, Muteesa -1 Royal university play ground, Kasana public playground, Sports Arena play ground -Kitovu, St Kizito technical Institute play ground, Kijjabwemi primary school play ground, Kako secondary school, Blessed Sacrament primary school -Kimanya training ground and Blessed Sacrament secondary school -Kimanya ground.

Masaka secondary school winning the bid to host such a big Uganda secondary schools sports associations competition alot was considered among the meeting venues with the school having four sizeable Main hall with capacity of 1,500 people, Dining hall at 1,000 people, Wagwa Hall with 500 people and Reading room with capacity of 1000 people, with accommodation facilities  the school has two big hostels and each accommodates over 1000 students.

During such big competitions the hygiene factor is very important and on matters of water sources  the school is connected to national water supply,also  connected with Spring water supply and the school has ten (10) water tanks of 10,000 litre capacity each. On Security matters the school has a perimeter wall, twenty (20) guards for the school dormitories, Local defense Unit (LDU) are in distance of 300 meters and Masaka as a city has a central police station in a distance of 500 meters.

Masaka recreation ground will host the opening and closing ceremonies of this years 2024, USSSA-National boys football  for the business community in the city to see the talents in schools.
Meanwhile, last year’s championship was held at Nyakasura School in FortPortal City with St Mary’s secondary school -Kitende  lifting the trophy beating St Henry’s Kitovu 1-0 scored by Habib Oloya who brushed home an inviting throw-in from the captain, Justine Opiro, a roving right back in the opening 20 minutes, the Mityana district based school -Royal Giant High School finished in third place beating Bukedea district based school Amus College by  4-2.
