Kampala – Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is hosting the World Smart & Sustainable Cities Organization Executive Committee Meeting (EXCOM).
This meeting is the first to be hosted in Africa as a continent, under the theme: “Resilience in the face of adversity; Smart cities as engines for socio-economic transformation.”
While addressing media Tuesday, the executive director of Kampala Capital City Authority Ms. Dorothy Kisaka, welcomed the all esteemed guests to the WeGO executive committee hosted by Kampala City.
She added that as KCCA, they are honoured to host the meeting for the very first time on the African continent under the theme.

Kisaka noted that, WeGO executive committee meeting 2022 will trigger a new discussion for cities’ approach towards inclusiveness and resilience amidst economic challenges. She thanked the invited guests to visit Kampala City and explore the investment opportunities as well as enjoy the unmatched hospitality of the Kampala people, the sumptuous organic cuisines and the unmatched beautiful weather among the many attractions Kampala offers.
According to Kisaka, from a policy stand point, cities must prioritise policies that promote diversity, increase production, export competitiveness and investment in skills development, productive jobs creation and capacity retention.
“We must also collaborate with other cities through different forums such as WeGO and Africa Smart Towns Network (ASTON),” Kisaka said.
