The Kabale municipality Town Clerk Justin Barekye has warned the public against misuse of government funds especially Parish Development Model (PDM).

She made this warning Thursday during the Kabale municipal council program budget conference presentation meeting at Kabale Catholic social Center Hall.

She stressed that the government has already deposited Parish Development Modal money on most Parish’s accounts and called upon the registered groups to get the money and use it responsibly saying that they will not tolerate any group that will misuse the money because strict laws have been set against such groups and will be applied.

She added that in financial year 2023/2024, government has put more money in financing local government especially on schools and hospitals and promised that the above mentioned areas will be improved on since more money has been dedicated to them.

Barekye added that she will work with heads of different departments in order to make sure that all civil servants do their work as directed by the government, saying that government has been paying people who are not playing their roles, yet there are people out there willing to do the work perfectly.

Barekye also warned people to stop encroaching wetlands saying that according to President Museveni’s directive people should not carry out any activity in wetlands, and she promised that starting next week they will start arresting those who have encroached on wetlands.

She also assured all civil servants whose salaries were not increased during this financial year that the government is looking forward to working on their salaries, especially art teachers within the next financial year.

The Kabale municipality finance manager Annet Mbabazi stressed that the government has increased local revenue this financial year 2023/2024 in order to extend all government services to everyone.

She promised that as council they will make sure that in the current financial year all roads, schools and health facilities are worked upon to the best standards.

She stressed that they will work as a team to ensure that every money does its work as budgeted there by monitoring, and supervising government programs.
