As we report, family politics have taken over Bukoto West constituency in Lwengo District.
This development comes as the current LC 5 Chairperson of Lwengo eyes on the same consistency.
His father Aboud Kitatta served as Bukoto West MP for 15 years until 2021 when he was ousted by Muhammad Ssentayi Muyanja.
However, as the road to 2026 general elections starts to bend, his son, who is also the Lwengo chairperson, Ibrahim Almalik Kitatta jnr, has declared intention to reclaim his father’s constituency.

According him, the mission is to rejuvenate the lost family glory. Although incumbent, Muyanja is a staunch National Resistance Movement (NRM) Cadre, Kitatta Jnr, says he represents the young turks within the ruling party.
He argues that time has come to change the political course within Lwengo district politics.
Source close to Hon. Muyanja intimated to us that he’s ready for the battle and very determined to win NRM party primaries next year.
So, with Kittata Senior completely out of elective politics, for Bukoto West, the MP is now open for the son, in fact, when Muyanja defeated him, Senior resorted to farming and poultry rearing.
“My father resorted to poultry rearing and farming after he was defeated in NRM primaries. He is not going again. ” Kitatta jnr said.
“My father is now one of my mobilisers in the constituency mobilising his former sponsors and supporters to rally behind me. I have picked interest contesting in public office MP and I have plans of changing the lives of my people,” he explained
