Woodball is another sport raising at high level that is competed in Primary, Secondary, Universities and Corporate companies of late.
One needs to understand that this sport called Woodball was developed in Taiwan in 1990 and introduced in Uganda by Paul Mark Kayongo in 2008 the Ndejje University sports tutor and currently the president of the sport. Woodball can be played indoors or outdoors, on grass, sand or asphalt surfaces. The ball used is 9.5cm in diameter and weighs 350 grams. The mallet is about 90cm long with a bottle shaped head.

Yesterday, (Tuesday) October 24th 2023 marked the new partnership between Coral Coating limited and Uganda woodball federation as the two joined efforts to successfully organise the 7th edition of Coral Coatings International Uganda Woodball Open Championship scheduled to take place from November 2nd-5th at Gulu University in Gulu city.
This international event is expected to feature participants from Zimbabwe and Ghana adding to the East Africans from Kenya, Tanzania and the hosts Uganda.
According to the general secretary of the Uganda Woodball federation Ssemanda Collins Ssemanda talking to media confirmed that more than 600 participants have already registered from different categories starting with Juniors, Youth, Singles and Corporates both in boys and girls.

It should be noted that last year’s 2022 Coral coacting Uganda woodball open held in Mbale the competition attracted 42 teams, 504 participants with 304 men and 200 Women.
Yesterday, Coral Coatings committed UGX 40Million sponsorship of this year 2023 event that will be in cash and kind going towards awards, branding and officiation expenses compared to last year’s 2022 sponsorship of UGX 38Million the competition that was held in Mbale City.
The managing director, Coral Coatings Mr. Micheal Managing director promised not to stop the partnership between the company and the federation, confirming that they will continue to support the federation in all national and international Competitions.
The President of Uganda Woodball Federation Mr. Paul Mark Kayongo appreciated the sponsorship and guaranteed them mileage from the international open championship.
” This is the 7th year running Coral Coatings is supporting the federation in running the competition and with this support it has really helped us promote the sport country wide, you recall we started in Entebbe, Jinja, Mbarara, Arua, Mukono and last year in Mbale, now we shall be in Gulu,” said Kayongo
