City fire aftermath! Equity Bank forced to suspend it’s operations at Church house main branch

KAMPALA – The early Monday fire that gutted one of Kampala’s building the City house which is metres away from the Church house that houses Equity Bank headquarters, has forced the Bank to suspend operations.
According to the statement released on Monday afternoon by the Equity Bank management seen by this publication, they noted and informed their clients that City House building adjacent to Church House, where Equity Bank head office and Church House branches are located had earlier been burnt by fire. Adding that out of precaution, they have temporarily closed premises as the Uganda Police and Fire Brigade work to contain the fire outbreak.
They further assured their clients that at the moment, there is no any damage to the Bank and no harm to the Bank’s staff who were safely evacuated. “We request our customers to use our other branches in Kampala, Equi-Duuka Agents and our digital banking channels which are all operating normally” reads the statement.
They promised and assured them the situation will be under control soon for normal service to resume at Church House. “We will continue to update you as the situation unfolds” said the statement. The management however expressed their regrets and inconveniences caused.
