USSSA Enforces Two-Year Ban on Royal Giant and St. Andrews High School Coaches for indiscipline

Indiscipline among coaches will no longer be tolerated in school sports competitions, as the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has taken decisive action against serious violations during the USSSA Ball Games II and Mind Games held at Teso College Aloet, Soroti City, from September 1st to 6th, 2024. Royal Giant High School and St. Andrews High School Gombe have been dismissed from the tournament and handed a two-year ban from future participation, along with six team officials from both schools, who face the same sanctions.

The disciplinary committee at Teso College based its decision on violations of match schedules, citing USSSA Competitions Rule Article 13 and FIFA regulations on match-fixing and malpractice.

In letters seen by Wallnetnews, it was confirmed that the schools and officials must exclude the individuals from all school sports activities during the ban.

This strong stance underscores USSSA’s commitment to maintaining integrity in school sports and ensuring that fair play prevails in all competitions.

Earlier in 2024, St. Andrews High School Gombe was also disqualified from the USSSA Kampala Zone games for similar issues, signaling a persistent pattern of indiscipline that the association is keen to root out.

The officials banned from Royal Giant High School include Mulindwa Frank (Head Coach), Mutebi Tonny (Assistant Coach), and Jjuko Godfrey (Goalkeeping Coach).

From St. Andrews High School Gombe, the sanctioned coaches are Kireewa Maato (Head Coach), Mwanje Gerald (Assistant Coach), and Masembe Adam (Goalkeeping Coach).

In an interview with Wallnetnews, Hajji Kitezaala Twahil, Chairman of the National Organising Committee, commented on the sanctions: “We cannot allow such indiscipline to continue. These bans send a strong message to all schools and officials that misconduct will not be tolerated. We are committed to protecting the integrity of school competitions.”

This isn’t the first disciplinary action this year; during the National Ball Games, the head coach of Green Light Islamic School’s netball team was similarly banned for two years.

USSSA’s continued enforcement of strict measures against indiscipline reflects its resolve to ensure fair competition and uphold the values of sportsmanship in schools across Uganda.
