After a successful Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) Masters competition, Uganda’s top swimmers are now focused on qualifying for the World Aquatics Masters Swimming Championship in Singapore next year.
The recent USF Masters competition, held at Elite Swim and Gym, home to Aqua Akii Swim Club, showcased some impressive performances, setting the stage for Uganda’s international aspirations.
The Formidables Swim Club, in particular, claimed several top finishes, while the Dolphins Masters team added depth to the competition, especially in the relay events, demonstrating Uganda’s growing talent in Masters swimming.
Dr. Donald Rukare, President of the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC), shared Uganda’s ambitions in an interview with Wallnetnews.
“We are looking forward to participating in the World Aquatics Masters Swimming Championships in Singapore next year. Preparations are well underway, with our swimmers training hard to meet the qualification standards,” Rukare said.
In the lead-up to the global event, Uganda will also participate in the Zone 3 Africa Aquatics Masters Championships, scheduled for November 22-24, 2024, in Bujumbura, Burundi.
“This competition will serve as a great preparatory stage for our swimmers as they build momentum toward Singapore,” Rukare added.
The strong performances at the USF Masters competition have fueled optimism about Uganda’s prospects on the international stage, as the country continues to develop its presence in Masters swimming.
