Uganda Boxing team at last secure visas, off to Italy without team manager

After a series of setbacks, the Uganda Boxing Team has finally secured visas and boarded a flight with Egypt Air.

However, amidst the relief, a new challenge arises as the team set to travel without a manager raising concerns and adding another layer of complexity to the journey.

The successful acquisition of visas represents a crucial milestone for the Uganda Boxing Team, enabling them to proceed with their travel plans and fulfill their commitments in Olympic Boxing World Qualifiers, Busto Arsizio, Italy from February 29th to March 13th 2024, Boarding the flight with EgyptAir marks a significant step forward after the team encountered delays and uncertainties regarding their travel arrangements.

Despite this progress, the absence of the team manager introduces a fresh dilemma for the boxing delegation.

The team manager plays a pivotal role in coordinating logistics, providing guidance, and ensuring the well-being of team members throughout the journey.

Their absence leaves a void in leadership and raises questions about the continuity and stability of the team’s operations.

As the Uganda Boxing Team embarks on their journey without a team manager, they face additional challenges in navigating logistical hurdles, maintaining team cohesion, and addressing unforeseen circumstances that may arise during travel.

The absence of clear communication or explanation for the team leader’s decision further complicates the situation and adds to the uncertainty surrounding the trip.

According to wallnetnews sources revealed that National Council of Sports transferred UGX 95,326,716 (Ninety-five million three hundred twenty six thousand seven hundred sixteen) late to Uganda Olympic Committee account in Stanbic Bank for Olympic Boxing World Qualifiers, Busto Arsizio, Italy, leaving out the Uganda Boxing Federation who would have submitted visa applications well in advance, anticipating a smooth process.

Today we bring you the breakdown of the funds how the national council of sports directed Uganda Olympic committee should be spent on, raising eyebrows how another sports body does accountability of the funds on behalf of Uganda boxing federation and reminded to submit it in 45 days as per the submitted budget.

Return Air Tickets for six people at cost unit UGX 4,200,000 amounting to Ugx 25,200,000, Visa fees at coust unit Ugx 333,000 amounting to Ugx 1,998,000, Accommodation Full-board -Ugx 40,429,148, Medical supplies -Ugx 500,000, Competition Kits for four athletes at cost unit Ugx 750,000 amounting to Ugx 3,000,000, General Uniform (Track Suits, Tee-Shirts, Shoes and Bags) for six people at cost unit Ugx -500,000 amounting to Ugx 3,000,000, Allowances for four boxers each per day Ugx 385,704 amounting to for seven days Ugx 10,799,712, Allowances for two coaches each per day Ugx 385,704 amounting to for seven days Ugx 5,399,856, Winter Clothing for six people at cost unit Ugx 400,000 amounting to Ugx 2,400,000, Condinationa and transport for the team -Ugx 600,000, and Contingency -Ugx 2,000,000.

Despite the unexpected setback, the Uganda Boxing Team remains resilient and determined to persevere in the face of adversity.

With unity, adaptability, and a shared sense of purpose, the team endeavors to overcome challenges, support one another, and represent their country with pride and determination on the international stage.

Meanwhile, as they continue their journey with Egypt Air, the Uganda Boxing Team remains focused on their goals, drawing strength from their collective spirit and unwavering commitment to excellence in the sport of boxing.

Their journey serves as a testament to the resilience and perseverance of Uganda’s sporting community, demonstrating the ability to overcome obstacles and emerge stronger in the pursuit of their athletic aspirations.
