MTN-FUFA Awards 2024 Officially Launched: A grand celebration of Uganda’s Football Excellence

The prestigious MTN-FUFA Awards 2024 were officially launched on Friday morning at a vibrant ceremony held at the Kampala Serena Hotel, under the theme ‘Celebrating Football Heroes, Inspiring Future Stars.’

Now in their 7th edition, the MTN-FUFA Awards have grown into Uganda’s premier football recognition event, honouring the players, coaches, referees, clubs, fans, and stakeholders whose contributions continue to elevate the beautiful game across the country.

The launch brought together key figures from Uganda’s football ecosystem—FUFA Executive Committee members,  sponsors, media, and other dignitaries, Among the notable attendees were FUFA Awards Committee Chairman Rogers Byamukama, FUFA Executive Committee Member Rogers Mulindwa, and FUFA  Deputy CEO-services Hamprey Mandu.

“The FUFA Awards are not just a celebration; they are a national reflection of our football journey and the stars who inspire the next generation,” said Byamukama, underlining the symbolic value the awards hold.

The highlight of the morning was the unveiling of the official theme and award categories for 2024–2025, with a stunning multimedia teaser capturing the attention of all in attendance.

With long-term support from MTN Uganda, the Awards are set to scale new heights, with enhanced fan engagement, inclusivity, and expanded recognition across the football spectrum.

From established stars to rising talents and behind-the-scenes contributors, the awards aim to be a comprehensive celebration of the sport’s impact in Uganda.

The ceremony also featured remarks from sponsors and partners, whose steadfast support has helped shape the legacy of the Awards.
John Paul Okwi, MTN Uganda’s Sponsorships and Events Manager, said, “Football is the game of many colours, many tribes—and this aligns with what MTN believes in: Together We Are Unstoppable. The MTN-FUFA Awards will be a must-watch event on the sporting calendar.”
Anguzu Rogers, Commercial Manager at Crown Beverages (Nivana), added, “We are excited and delighted to be part of this and look forward to continuing our support for the game of football.”

With broader categories, greater transparency, and a renewed focus on inclusion, the MTN-FUFA Awards 2024 are officially back—bigger, better, and more impactful than ever before.

Returning and newly introduced award categories include; Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, Male Best XI, Female Best XI, Male Coach of the Year, Women Football Coach of the Year, FUFA Goal of the Year, Upcoming Talent Award, Beach Soccer Player of the Year, Futsal Player of the Year, FUFA Member Associations’ Award, Fans of the Year (FUFA Competitions), FUFA Presidential Award, Fans’ Foreign-based Player of the Year, Best Squad of a Particular Year and MTN Media Personality of the Year
