Major General George Igumba, Commandant of the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka (SCSC-K), has emphasized the critical role of teamwork in military effectiveness, stating that success in operations depends on unity rather than individual performance.
“Militaries all over the world operate by working together as a team, not as individuals,” Maj Gen Igumba said, addressing personnel from the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) during a vibrant sports interaction event held at the college grounds.
The day’s activities featured football and volleyball matches, aimed at strengthening interaction, boosting morale, and enhancing cohesion between MODVA staff and SCSC-K personnel.

Maj Gen Igumba outlined four key objectives behind the initiative, Encouraging engagement, Fostering familiarity, Strengthening interpersonal bonds and Promoting physical fitness

He highlighted that such events are an essential part of building trust, discipline, and a shared sense of purpose within the defence community.
Mr. Erukwaine Godfrey, Head of the Procurement and Disposal Unit and MODVA representative, commended the participants for their energy and sportsmanship. He noted the significance of informal events like these in boosting morale and fostering camaraderie across different units and departments.
The event culminated in a trophy presentation ceremony, attended by both senior and junior personnel, underscoring the success of the day’s mission: celebrating unity and teamwork through sport.
