After a historic appearance at the 26th Africa Cup for Club Champions (ACCC) in Ismailia, Egypt, Kampala Hockey Club (KHC) through its women’s team, the KHC Swans this morning, Wednesday, May 28th, paid a courtesy visit to the National Council of Sports (NCS) to express their gratitude for the support rendered.
The visit follows the club’s participation in the continental championship held from January 31 to February 7, 2025, where the KHC Swans proudly represented Uganda, competing against ten of Africa’s top-tier hockey clubs. Their qualification came on the back of winning the 2024 National Hockey League.
The trip was made possible thanks to NCS’s financial support, specifically through covering the team’s travel costs to Egypt.
During the visit, Bridget Baine, a player with the Swans, officially presented a certificate of appreciation and a detailed report on the team’s participation to Dr. Bernard Ogwel, the General Secretary of NCS. In addition, she handed over a medal souvenir from Jordan Mpiima, who won the accolade while playing with the Stallions during a separate event in Namibia.

Dr. Ogwel warmly welcomed the team and commended their professionalism and thoughtfulness.
“This gesture means a lot. KHC Swans are the only club that has ever come back to formally say thank you after being supported by the National Council of Sports,” Dr. Ogwel noted.
He emphasized the importance of accountability and relationship-building between national sports bodies and clubs, praising the Swans for setting a positive example.
The Swans’ recognition of NCS support not only reflects good sportsmanship but also underscores their growing role as ambassadors for Ugandan hockey on the continental stage.
As the club continues its rise, this morning’s gesture solidified their reputation not just as fierce competitors, but as true professionals who value partnerships and uphold the spirit of gratitude and accountability.
