It’s not yet time for Political Campaigns: Kabale RDC Stops Football Match

By Innocent Ruhangariyo

Kabale – The Kabale Resident District Commissioner Godfrey Nyakahuma on Sunday blocked a friendly football match between Kahungye sub-county and Butanda sub-county which was to be played out at Rubaya playground in Kahungye saying it was politically organised and the organisers never  sought for authorization from security officials.

RDC Nyakahuma speaking to the media on Sunday.

Nyakahuma told our reporter that they received  information that the chief executive officer of Labour Associated Advocates Eliab Naturinda Mporera who is reportedly showing interest in the Ndorwa West parliamentary seat has been organizing meetings with boda boda riders and a football match as part of the mobilization strategies ahead of the 2026 elections without security authorization which he says is illegal.

The game that was supposed to begin at 2pm failed to kick off after Nyakahuma stormed Rubaya playground with the Police and Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) soldiers and ordered the players and spectators to leave immediately.

However Naturinda accused the RDC of blocking the football game saying that he was not in politics, and was only invited by the youth from the two sub-counties to join them at the football match.
