The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has taken decisive action by suspending Dirisa Kasalirwe, Chairman of the Kampala Regional Football Association, and his Vice Chairperson, Nkugwa Peter, following serious allegations of misuse of office. This suspension comes in the wake of preliminary investigations initiated by the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, which is probing possible violations of the FUFA ethics and disciplinary code.

According to documents seen by Wallnetnews, Kasalirwe and Nkugwa are accused of soliciting money from referees in exchange for match assignments and appointments within the Kampala region. This alleged misconduct has raised significant concerns about the integrity of the officials involved and the broader impact on the fairness and transparency of football administration in the region.

The FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee is continuing its investigations to ascertain the full extent of the alleged misconduct. The committee will determine any further action that may be necessary based on the findings.

This ongoing investigation reflects FUFA’s commitment to upholding ethical standards and ensuring that football governance remains free from corruption and malpractice.

In interviews conducted by Wallnetnews, several stakeholders expressed their views on the suspension, Support for FUFA’s Decision: “The suspension is a necessary step to preserve the integrity of football in Uganda. If the allegations are true, it’s crucial that FUFA takes strong action to root out corruption and set an example for others,” said a senior football official.

Concerns About Fairness: Some stakeholders expressed concerns about the potential impact of the suspension on the Kampala Regional Football Association’s operations. “While the investigation is important, we must ensure that the administration of football in Kampala is not disrupted. It’s vital that the region continues to function smoothly during this period,” commented a local club manager.

Call for Transparency: Fans and members of the football community are calling for transparency in the investigation process. “FUFA needs to keep the public informed about the progress of the investigation. Transparency is key to maintaining trust in the process and in the sport,” said a Kampala-based football enthusiast.

Meanwhile, the suspension of Dirisa Kasalirwe and Nkugwa Peter marks a significant moment in FUFA’s ongoing efforts to uphold ethical standards within Ugandan football.

As the investigation continues, the football community will be watching closely to see how the situation unfolds and what measures will be taken to ensure that such allegations are thoroughly addressed. The outcome of this case could have far-reaching implications for football governance in Uganda, reinforcing the importance of integrity and accountability in the sport.
