Expect tough competition at FEASSA Games 2024- Experts tip Uganda Schools

Ugandan schools should not assume it will be an easy journey at this year’s Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games, set to take place at Bukedea Comprehensive School and Amus College School. Kenyan teams are gearing up with renewed focus and determination to dominate the competition.

During the closing ceremony of the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national term two games held in Kisii County, KSSSA Secretary General David Ngugi announced that the Kenyan teams that qualified for FEASSA will undergo a rigorous 10-day training camp in Kakamega before departing for Uganda. This demonstrates Kenya’s serious commitment to performing well at the FEASSA Games.

Ngugi confirmed that the teams, including those that qualified in the KSSSA National term-one games, will join the camp in Kakamega. The boys will train at Musingu High School, while the girls will be housed at Mukumu Girls for their intensive preparations. The teams departed from Kisii to Kakamega on Friday, August 9th, 2024, immediately after the closing ceremony.

The Kenyan teams are scheduled to leave for Uganda on Friday, August 16th, 2024, with the FEASSA Games officially kicking off on August 18th. The draws will be  held  in Uganda, setting the stage for what promises to be a fiercely competitive event.

The State Department for Education Director General, Elyias Abdi, who graced the closing ceremony in Kisii, emphasized the importance of the event and praised the sponsors and partners for their support. His presence and encouragement further highlight the seriousness with which Kenya is approaching the FEASSA Games.

As the FEASSA Games 2024 approach, Ugandan schools should be aware that their Kenyan counterparts are preparing with a level of intensity and focus that cannot be underestimated.

The 10-day training camp in Kakamega, coupled with the strategic planning and support from Kenyan educational authorities, indicates that the competition will be anything but a walk in the park. Ugandan teams will need to be at their very best to contend with the formidable challenge posed by the well-prepared Kenyan teams.
