Brendah Chepkwemoi Wins Uganda’s First Silver at ISF Gymnasiade in Bahrain

On the second day of the ISF Gymnasiade 2024 in Bahrain, Brendah Chepkwemoi from Chemwania High School, Kapchorwa District, earned Uganda’s first silver medal in the 800m finals. Chepkwemoi, known for her remarkable endurance and speed, is now set to compete in the 1,500m event, where she will test her skills against middle-distance runners from around the world. Drawing on her determination and experience from local competitions, she aims to build on her success and make her mark in Bahrain.

Emeritus Patrick Okanya praised Chepkwemoi’s achievement in an interview with Wallnet News, saying it was a historic moment for Uganda, celebrating her dedication and the pride she brings to Ugandan athletics on the international stage.

Additionally, the ISF Gymnasiade 2024 organizing committee recently unveiled the official medals for the event. Each medal, featuring a design emblematic of the Games, showcases the event’s logo, year, and host country, Bahrain, on the front. The reverse displays the ISF logo and “GYMNASIADE,” embodying the competitive spirit of school sports.

The committee expressed that these medals are more than just awards—they are mementos symbolizing global sportsmanship and the commitment of youth to sports and teamwork. The medals reflect the ISF’s mission to inspire young athletes and encourage fair play, teamwork, and healthy competition across borders.
