Seroma Christian High School has set its sights on a major milestone hosting the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Associations (USSSA) National Boys Football competition in 2026 and 2027. After successfully securing the bid to host the 2025 USSSA-National Swimming Competition against tough competitors like Bukedea Comprehensive School, the Mukono-based institution is determined to become the first private school to host the prestigious National Boys Football event in the region.

During the presentation of their bid, Resident Director Ms. Amelia Kyambadde unveiled the school’s ambitious plans to upgrade its sports infrastructure.

One of the key projects includes the construction of six new sports grounds within the school. Construction is already underway, and the administration is confident that all facilities will be completed in time for the 2026 events, ensuring that Seroma Christian High School meets the high standards required for hosting national competitions.

In the race to host the 2026 USSSA-National Boys Football competition, Seroma Christian High School will face stiff competition from other leading institutions, including Amus College School and St. Joseph’s Nazareth School.

The winning school will need to deliver a powerful presentation, showcasing not just infrastructure but also its commitment to the growth of sports. Seroma Christian High School, with its ongoing developments, is well-positioned to take on this challenge.

Founded in 2002 by Can. Lt. Col. (Rt.) Robert Ssekidde and Margaret Ssekidde, Seroma Christian High School has steadily built a reputation as a hub for both academic and sporting excellence.

Under the leadership of Resident Director Ms. Amelia Kyambadde, Headteacher Mrs. Edith Nalubowa Kayanja, and Co-curricular Director Mr. Thomas Magyezi, the school has consistently delivered strong performances in various sports.

In recent years, Seroma’s achievements in sports have been impressive. At the 2024 FEASSA Games, two of the school’s swimmers won gold medals, while the boys’ basketball team (3×3) was the runner-up in a fiercely contested tournament at Amus College School.

The table tennis team also secured a bronze medal, further adding to the school’s growing sports legacy. On October 21, 2024, several of these athletes, including the girls’ basketball team, were flagged off to represent Uganda at the ISF Games in Bahrain.

According to Ms. Amelia Kyambadde, the school has a clear target to host the USSSA National Ball Games in 2026 and 2027, including football and athletics.

The school’s sports complex, which is currently under construction, will be a game-changer. Upon completion, it will provide state-of-the-art facilities for a wide range of sports, including football, athletics, and netball, alongside the school’s established excellence in swimming and basketball.

When asked about the school’s future plans, Ms. Kyambadde emphasized that sports are an integral part of Seroma Christian High School’s mission to develop well-rounded students. “Our love for sports goes beyond swimming and basketball,” she explained. “We are bringing football, athletics, and netball into focus because we want to provide opportunities for all students to excel, both academically and athletically.”

With its dedication to building top-tier infrastructure and fostering talent across multiple sports, Seroma Christian High School is not just aiming to host national events but is also setting the stage to become a national leader in school sports.

The school’s ongoing development projects, combined with its strategic vision, make it a strong contender to host the USSSA National Boys Football competition in 2026 and 2027.

Seroma Christian High School is poised to make history in Mukono as it continues to build on its growing reputation for sporting excellence.
