St. Peters College Tororo and Ngora High School win bid to host 2025 USSSA National Competitions

St. Peters College Tororo, in collaboration with co-host Tororo Girls School from USSSA-Bukedi zone, and Ngora High School have successfully won the bid to host the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Ball Games II/Athletics and National Boys Football competitions, respectively.
The announcement was made by Mr. Sam Odong, the Assistant Commissioner for Sports at the Ministry of Education and Sports, during the bid presentation at the USSSA offices in GNS Plaza, Kampala, on Friday, October 18, 2024.
The USSSA and the Ministry of Education and Sports officially approved the bid by St. Peters College and Ngora High School to host these prestigious events, marking the first time the National Ball Games II/Athletics and Boys Football finals will be held on Bukedi and Teso zone soil.
Eliphaz Opolot, Headteacher of Ngora High School, expressed his gratitude for the achievement, stating, “Our turn has now come! Thank you to old boys, old girls, stakeholders, and the school boards of St. Peters College Tororo, Tororo Girls School, Ngora High School, and all Ugandans for standing with us. Congratulations to Bukedi zone and Teso zone.”
St. Peters College, along with co-host Tororo Girls School, defeated the joint bid by Jinja Secondary School and Jinja College to secure hosting rights for the 2025 USSSA National Ball Games II/Athletics. Ngora High School edged out St. Mary’s Rushoroza-Kabale to earn the right to host the National Boys Football finals.
This victory marks a historic milestone for the Bukedi and Teso zones, which will be hosting these national tournaments for the first time.
Local communities in Ngora and Tororo districts reacted with excitement and pride upon hearing the news. In interviews with Wallnetnews, residents expressed their enthusiasm, particularly for the opportunities the tournaments will bring to their regions.
As the 2025 USSSA games approach, the focus will now shift to preparations by St. Peters College Tororo, Tororo Girls School, and Ngora High School to deliver a memorable and successful event that will leave a lasting legacy in both zones.
