Uganda is set to send six promising players to the BWF World Junior Badminton Championships 2024, which will be hosted in Nanchang, China. The event is scheduled to take place from September 30 to October 5, and Uganda’s delegation will consist of three boys and three girls.
Simon Mugabi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Badminton Association (UBA), expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming tournament, stating, “This is another opportunity for our junior players to go and mingle with the world’s top players from other countries around the world and also get the top-class exposure. It is always good when young players get the opportunities to play at such events because they help them improve.”
Mugabi emphasized the importance of these international experiences for the development of Uganda’s junior players, highlighting that participation in such prestigious events provides invaluable exposure and growth opportunities.
The CEO also underscored the UBA’s commitment to ensuring that both junior and senior national players receive ample international exposure this season. He mentioned that there are plans for participation in additional tournaments in Zambia, South Africa, Ghana, and Europe, further broadening the horizons for Ugandan badminton players.
