According to the letter seen by wallnetnews , The USSSA-Mayuge (Uganda Schools Sports Association – Mayuge) will be conducting the qualifier draws on Tuesday, February 27th 2024 at Mayuge High School.

The qualifier draws mark the beginning of an exciting journey towards identifying the top schools that will advance to the next stage of the competition.

Mayuge district secondary schools sports association General secretary John Okey talking to wallnetnews confirmed that all schools in the district have received the communication.

“The draw ceremony will determine the matchups and schedule for the participating schools in various categories. We encourage all participating teams, coaches, and school representatives to attend the event to witness the unfolding of the tournament structure,” said Okeya.

“This event promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent, sportsmanship, and teamwork within the Mayuge district, the event will not only contribute to the vibrant atmosphere but also showcase the unity and enthusiasm of the school community in Mayuge. We anticipate an eventful day filled with anticipation and friendly rivalry,” he added.

One needs to understand that excitement is reaching a fever pitch as the USSSA-Mayuge draws near, and all eyes are on Mayuge Light School, a powerhouse in both academics and sports. As one of the key contenders, Mayuge Light School is set to captivate audiences and sports enthusiasts alike in this highly anticipated event.

Mayuge Light School has a storied history of athletic excellence, and this year promises to be no exception.

The school community is abuzz with anticipation as they prepare to showcase their talent, dedication, and unwavering team spirit on the USSSA-Mayuge stage.

However, Mayuge Light School, the USSSA-Mayuge district champions 2023 continues to be under a ban, preventing their participation in the upcoming USSSA-Mayuge event.

Despite the anticipation building as the USSSA-Mayuge draws near, Wallnetnews understands that Mayuge Light School is currently ineligible to take part in the tournament John Okeya the General secretary confirmed to wallnetnews that efforts are being made to resolve the issues leading to the ban, and are in constant communication with the relevant authorities to seek a swift resolution.

“Our primary goal is to ensure a fair and inclusive competition, and we are committed to working towards the reinstatement of Mayuge Light School’s eligibility,” said Okeya.

“We will keep you informed of any updates regarding this matter to the full participation of Mayuge Light School in future USSSA-Mayuge events,” he added.

It should be noted that Mayuge Light School emerged victorious in a spectacular display of skill and determination, beating Tawheed Academy on finals 8-7 in penalty shoot outs after a goalless draw in normal time to lift the prestigious USSSA-Mayuge Cup in 2023, In a fiercely contested match held on April at Tawheed Academy Institute ground.
