Uganda finish 2nd as Patrick Ochieng wins gold at Kenya Darts Open

All eyes were on Uganda winning the East African darts InterState Challenge title in Nairobi but it didn’t happen as expected.
The Uganda Darts Team finished second walking away with the Silver Medal in Nairobi after failing to defend the East Africa Darts Inter State Challenge Title that happened on 10th November 2023, for the host nation Kenya lifting the title and walking away with the Gold medal with Tanzania in the 3rd position with the Bronze medal.
The three day Kenya Darts Open that started on 11th November 2023, ended late night yesterday (Monday) in highly contested matches. Omariba ‘Onetouch’ was determined to defend his championship but it was hard lack after losing 5-4 to Patrick Ochieng of Uganda in a hotly contested final. Patrick Ochieng came from two sets down to beat Wycliffe Omariba of Kenya in the final set on the double.
Two reach the finals yesterday, Omariba beat fellow country mate Joseph Wanjohi 4-3 as Ochieng beat Moses Muriuki of Kenya 4-3 at the Semis.
In the Men’s Doubles, Uganda pair of Ndigenda and Odoki of Uganda Wildlife Authority Darts team won a silver medal while the pair of Emomer and Rashid of Uganda prisons services walked empty handed, while in the Ladies category, Kenya walked away with gold and bronze medal respectively and Rwanda pair with Silver medal.
However in the teams event it was joy and tears of happiness, Bank of Uganda darts ladies team winning gold for Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Authority mens team winning Silver for Uganda, while host nation Kenya won gold and bronze medal respectively.
Meanwhile, THe Uganda contingent returns tomorrow in the country from the East African Darts InterState Challenge title and Kenya Open.
